About MCM Restoration

MCM Restoration was founded by Patrick McAneeny of New London CT, in October of 1991. At that time he was a young Ranger fresh out of the Army's 3rd of the 75th Rangers. MCM started by performing landscaping and painting services, slowly growing into one of the area's premier remodeling companies, with over 3500 completed jobs.

In 1997 Patrick partnered with Maurice Daugherty II, and the company grew into the multi-million dollar range. In 2003 MCM earned the South East Builders Association 2003 Remodeler of the Year. In 2004 & 2007 Patrick earned his Certified Graduate Remodeler accreditation, one of 2000 in the country, and in 2007 he became CAPS certified as well.

In February of 2005 MCM relocated to the 7000 sf design studio and custom woodworking shop on Cross Road in Waterford.  Tragically, in April of 2005 MCM suffered the loss of partner Maurice to cancer, and had to completely reinvent itself.

In 2006 and 2007, MCM received the Top 500 Remodelor award from Qualified Remodeler magazine. MCM has a new focus, a plan to deliver extremely high quality remodeling with emphasis on design and execution. With constant growth through education, we look forward to serving you for many years into the future.

Ken Bird
Vice President - Sales & Marketing

Ken brings with him over 25 years of experience in the building and remodeling industry. Through the years Ken has been designing homes and developing plans for custom additions using state of the art designing software.

Ken graduated locally from Waterford and started his career with the University of New Haven and the University of Rhode Island in engineering. He quickly started in his passion for building and has certifications through Softplan and 20/20 kitchen design. Ken carries current certification with Certainteed, Velux, and The Professional Roofers Advisory Council of CT.  He is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and involved with the Home Builders Association of CT.  A number of Ken’s designs have been feature stories in The Day newspaper.

Today Ken resides in Waterford with his wife and enjoys traveling, watersports and cycling. Ken donates alot of his free time to local non profit organizations. Ken also enjoys yearly training seminars and construction seminars, to stay up on the hottest design trends and changes in the industry.

Dave Smith
Senior Salesperson

Dave offers over 15 years of experience in the building and remodeling fields. In 1991 he was on his first roof  -- and a seed was planted.

After having spent 9 years in the automotive industry, Dave finally gave into his passion for Home Improvement and started at MCM in 2001.  Dave adapted quickly to the career change and became the roofing manager for the company.  Noticing the attention to detail that Dave gave to every job, MCM decided to offer him a position in Sales. Dave prides himself on taking the time to work one-on-one with each client to see that each project is finished exactly as it was envisioned.

Dave carries current certification with Certainteed, Velux, and The Professional Roofers Advisory Council of CT.

Dave was raised in Norwich, attended the Norwich school system and currently resides there with his wife Stacey. In his free time he enjoys fishing, off-road motorcycling, and mountain biking.

Jim Fuery
Manager – Production Dept

Jim brings over 11 years of experience in the building and remodeling fields. He is experienced in overseeing all aspects of a project, from inception to completion. Having designed and built his own 5000 sf home, Jim is adept at anticipating and resolving any concerns other homeowners may have during the various phases of their own projects.

Jim holds a degree from Johnson State College in Vermont, and currently resides in Lebanon CT. In his spare time he enjoys skiing, fishing, scuba diving, as well as a game of chess.

John Berg
Sales & Development

John brings with him 8 years of experience in the residential and commercial construction field, as well as experience in Field Engineering, Surveying, and Construction Supervision.

He also has 11 years of experience in Environmental Permitting and Compliance in the field of Hazardous Waste Management.

John graduated from Norwich University in Northfield Vermont. He resides in Groton and enjoys boating and fishing.

Lora Harney
Assistant Manager - Production Dept

Lora holds a degree in Architectural Design with further studies in Engineering.  She plans to gain licensing in both, upon completion of Masters Degrees in each field.  She is a world traveler and loves designing interiors, exteriors, and landscapes.

She aspires to design a city someday – from top to bottom -- a fully functioning city within itself (like a Manhattan on a somewhat smaller scale), with a goal of minimal traffic, crime, etc.
